Looking for the Best Buffets & All-You-Can-Eats
I produce Discover Good Food for Steve Stewart here at WJR Detroit. We're rapidly becoming one of the best friends Michigan Foodies have in the Detroit Area. And we're considering doing a show in the near future on the best All-You-Can-Eats and serve-yourself Buffets around the Great Mitten.
I'd love to hear yours. Please tell me which restaurant, cafe, pub, or diner is the absolute tops in your book. And give me a little story about your favorite night there!
For example, one of the restaurants I'm considering is the Silver Creek Tavern on M-123, on the Bay Mills Reservation in the UP (just off Whitefish Bay). It's a charming little cabin owned and operated by Indigenous Michiganders that serves an exquisite All-You-Can-Eat Whitefish dinner with squash, warm rolls and all the trimmings. Before my family and I dined at this modest and humble little joint, I detested fish of any kind. It was tasting this place's Whitefish that snapped me out of my ignorance and set me on the path of a better diet based more in fish than the way I was headed.
What's your vote? It can be a big chain restaurant, a medium sized small business, or a plywood shack in the sticks that just happens to have a license to sell the most divine cuisine you've tasted.
The only catch is that it has to be All-You-Can-Eat, or one of those big, bountiful serve-yourself Buffets.
Feel free to submit your entry to me at WJR Radio in Detroit at mark.blackwell@citcomm.com. Thanks for your help! And thanks for sharing your stories to help Michigan Discover Good Food!
