jroddy, I think you're right about that. A treat for the eyes rather than the taste buds this year, but how frustrating for the farmers. There was an article in last week's Record-Eagle, where John Wunsch, a local cherry grower, estimated that 20 percent of the tart cherry crop will be abandoned in the fields.

Actually found out this is due to a fungus that causes leaf blight, which results in defoliation of the trees and a loss of the fruit to market. Either way, a sad situation for the farmer!
