Still Strawberry Season in Cedar

Cedar Sol Hydro Farm is a family owned and operated farm located in Leelanau County. We use a stacked hydroponic system to grow our All-Natural fruits and vegetables. By growing hydroponically, we minimize our water consumption while significantly decreasing the amount of growing land required. This also allows for us to provide a unique and pleasurable U-pick experience to the public!
Though Cedar Sol grows a variety of exquisite vegetables, our main crop is Everbearing strawberries, a type of berry that produces fruit until the first hard frost.
Our strawberries are ready now (Yes, now! August, September and into October) so please call or email us to set up a U-pick appointment (we're quite flexible).
You can find Cedar Sol's fresh produce at the local Farmers' Markets or at our Roadside Stand.
Market price for berries = $4.00/lb.
U-pick price for berries = $3.00/lb. and an additional 10% off if you pick over 15 pounds ($2.70/lb.)
Also available: Cedar Sol's basil, cucumbers, zucchini, greens, kale, chard, pole beans, sunflowers, Curt's Sweet Corn: grown in Cedar, Mi., Buzz' potatoes: grown in Cedar, Mi., By The Light of Day Organics "Strawberry Ice" loose-leaf tea: grown in Traverse City, Mi., A variety of nuts from The Nut Bar Co., Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mi.

Strawberry Storage
Place unwashed, whole berries on a paper towel (optional) in a tightly-covered container in the refrigerator. Do not store mushy or bruised berries in the same container. Wash and hull just before use. Berries taste best if brought to room temperature.
Think ahead! Stock your freezer with summers fruit. Strawberries freeze very well:
Wash and hull berries. They may be frozen whole or in pieces. Place them in freezer containers or bags.
If you place hulled strawberries in one layer on a cookie sheet and freeze them briefly before putting them in a freezer container, the strawberries won't squish together. It is easier to take what you need from the freezer container if the strawberries are not frozen to each other .
