The Winemakers roundtable in TC Business News

Four area winery owners sat down with Traverse City Business News publisher Luke Haase to talk about the 2007 harvest, trends and their observations about the regional winery scene. Their conversation is captured in The Winemakers, an interesting article in the October 2007 issue of Traverse City Business News. Participating in the roundtable were Bob Begin (Chateau Chantal), Ron Coe (Black Star Farms), Ed O'Keefe (Chateau Grand Traverse) and Larry Mawby (L. Mawby).

A couple tidbits:

  • When asked about the 2007 vintage, O'Keefe said " the late rain is adding volume and it looks similar to 2006...an excellent year."

  • "Six years ago, 80 percent of our customers were repeats," according to Mawby, commenting on the increase in new customers. "Now that number’s not over five percent."
